KBEC On The Grammys

KBEC Bringing you the Grammys!

 

 

Just in case you missed the Grammys, or simply want a recap of what happened on the country side of things, KBEC is bringing you a recap on who's who. This years Grammy winners were Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town, Zac Brown Band, Taylor Swift, The Civil Wars, Mumford & Sons, Bonnie Raitt, Steep Canyon Ranger and Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile. Each of these were nominated and won their categories.

Carrie Underwood won two categories with her performance of "Blown Away". She won Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song.

Little Big town took home the prize for Best Group Duo/ Group Performance with "Pontoon"

 

Zac Brown Band won Best Country Album with their album "Uncaged"

 

The fair Bonnie Raitt won Best Americana Album with her album "SlipStream".

 

Steep Canyon Ranger won Best Bluegrass with their hit, "Nobody Knows You"

 

Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile won Best Folk Album with theit album "The Goat Rodeo Session".

 

Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars won a joint award in the category of Safe & Sound, which are songs that are written for visual media.

 

Finally, Mumford & Sons won a Grammy for the music video category, Big Easy Express.

 

Think that's impressive? Wait till you hear the full list.  Over the past years, about 148 Texas-originated artist have won a Grammy. That's a whole lot of talent that Texas has been pushing out for years now. Numerous nominations have already topped that but the Lone Star State is showing that we sure do have talent to share. Out of those Texas winners, 31 of them won a Grammy in the country division. These winners include:

  • George Strait
  • Ray Price
  • Willie Nelson
  • Roger Dean Miller
  • Dixie Chicks
  • Jimmy Dean
  • Asleep at the Wheel

This year as well, Texas brought out the most candidates as well as a good number of people who won a Grammy. Show some Texas pride! We've been showing them how it's done for quite a while now and we'll keep on doing so!
