Welcome to another Featured Artist Friday!

This week, we have a little bit of the old and a little bit of the new in store for our listeners!  Up first, we are revisiting an old Billy Walker tune called "Funny How Time Slips Away".  This hit, which made #23 on the US Country Charts in 1961, put the Tall Texan on the national map and by the next year he would be hitting the #1 spot with "Charlie's Shoes".  By the way, "Funny How Time Slips Away" was written by a then-unknown Willie Nelson!  Next, we are adding a great song that has been requested called "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot.  This song, released in 1976, charted at #50 on the US Country Charts and at #2 on the Hot 100.  Lightfoot, even though he performed other songs that charted higher, considers this tune to be his finest work.  Last, but certainly not least, we are adding in the newest single from Longview's own Miranda Lambert.  Called "Fastest Girl in Town", this song is currently at #15 on the US Country Charts.

To recap for this week:

  • "Funny How Time Slips Away" - Billy Walker
  • "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" - Gordon Lightfoot
  • "Fastest Girl in Town" - Miranda Lambert
Every Friday, we will be adding a few new songs to the KBEC rotation.  You can hear our choices for the week on the Afternoon Drive.  If you have any comments or suggestions on who we should or shouldn't add, feel free to drop us an e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
