This week on Featured Artist Friday, it's request week!

All of the songs we are adding to the official KBEC playlist this week are by request.  Our first artist for the week is the great Kenny Chesney!  A Tennessee native, his song "Summertime" charted at #1 in 2006 and was included on one of the highest charting country albums of all time, The Road and the Radio.  This album, by the way, not only charted at #1 on the country charts, it debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and went triple platinum.  There's no question why this song is requested so often!  Up next we have a South Carolina native, Josh Turner!  His "Your Man" is another song we gets requests for almost every day - and it's no wonder, as it charted at #1 on the country charts in 2005.  You can find this song on the album of the same name.  Also by request, we are featuring a song from one of our favorite Texans: Gary P. Nunn!  His "Texas Lonesome" is a lost gem that was requested and can be found on his Nobody But Me record from 1999.  You can never have too much Gary P.!  Last, but certainly not least, is a great Merle Haggard tune: "I Started Loving You Again".  You may have heard the live version of this song from time to time on our station, but it's not until now that we have the studio version officially in the rotation!

To recap for this week:

  • "Summertime" - Kenny Chesney
  • "Your Man" - Josh Turner
  • "Texas Lonesome" - Gary P. Nunn
  • "I Started Loving You Again" - Merle Haggard
Every Friday, we will be adding a few new songs to the KBEC rotation.  You can hear our choices for the week on the Afternoon Drive.  If you have any comments or suggestions on who we should or shouldn't add, feel free to drop us an e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
