This week, we've got a special guest coming into the studio for Jon Garrett's Live in Texas!  Her name is Tori Martin and she's on track to become one of the biggest voices in Texas.

Tori grew up on a healthy mix of country, folk, gospel, and blues - and it shows in her music!

Tori Martin hails from Azle, just outside of Ft. Worth, and has been singing as far back as she can remember.  A native to our great state, she comes from a "Texas-sized" family that includes 5 younger siblings.  As a kid, she had no interest being a doctor, teacher, or lawyer - she wanted to play and write music!  And play she has - she has performed all over the Metroplex area and even recently performed "God Bless America" and "The Star Spangled Banner" at the 2012 Texas GOP Convention in Ft. Worth.  She released her first EP Falling Straight Up at the age of 16 and has been recording and touring ever since.

The GOP Convention performance remains one of Tori's proudest achievements - so far!

Tori is said to have a large range of musical influences ranging from Dolly Parton to Ray Charles to Johnny Cash to George Strait.  She also cites Texas artists Alison Krauss and Kacey Musgraves as major inspirations for her work.  According to her, she is happy to play whether the crowd is 50 people or 50,000 - although she also adds "the more the merrier!"  She made waves in Texas radio with her album You Are Worthy which included two singles that have become fan favorites: "You Are Worthy" and "Keep on Looking Up".  She also just released a new single, "Never Trouble Trouble", and is hard at work on a new album.

You can catch Tori's live shows around the Metroplex.  A list of her upcoming performances can be found here.
