It's Friday the 13th! There's no better time for some new music.

We're adding five songs from four great groups this week.  First up, we have two songs from Los Lobos: "One Time One Night" and "La Bamba".  "One Time One Night" was originally released on their 1988 By the Light of the Moon.  "La Bamba", based on a Veracruz folk song, was the title track of the soundtrack for the movie La Bamba.  It had been covered many times before, most noticeably by Ritchie Valens, but the Los Lobos version charted as the #1 song in both the US and UK in 1987.  We will also be adding a song from Los Lonely Boys, "Heaven".   Originally released as a single, "Heaven" can also be found on the Los Lonely Boys album released in 2004.  In addition, we also will be adding a song from the Outlaws, "There Goes Another Love Song".  Another song that was originally released as a single, it could later be found on their self-titled debut album released in 1975.  Wrapping things up for this week will be a Jimmy Buffett tune that's one of our favorites, "Tin Cup Chalice".  This song was released on Buffett's 1974 A1A album.

So, to recap:

  • "One Time One Night" - Los Lobos
  • "La Bamba" - Los Lobos
  • "Heaven" - Los Lonely Boys
  • "There Goes Another Love Song" - the Outlaws
  • "Tin Cup Chalice" - Jimmy Buffett
Every Friday, we will be adding a few new songs to the KBEC rotation.  You can hear our choices for the week on the Afternoon Drive.  If you have any comments or suggestions on who we should or shouldn't add, feel free to drop us an e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
