Straight out of Denton, the Eli Young Band is bringing their North Texas sound nationwide.

The Eli Young Band officially started in 2000.

The genesis of the Eli Young Band was when two University of North Texas students, Mike Eli and James Young, shared a dorm  in 1998 and formed an acoustic duo known as "Eli and Young".  After playing around the Denton scene, the duo added two friends, Chris Thompson and Jon Jones, to the line up and the Eli Young Band was born.  They released their first album, Eli Young Band, in 2002 and started touring outside of the North Texas area.

The EYB got their start opening for stars like Miranda Lambert and Pat Green.

While opening for her in 2003, the gang got the attention of Miranda Lambert and her producer Frank Liddell.  Soon after, the Eli Young Band was officially signed to Carnival Records and in 2005 they released their official debut album LevelLevel saw repeated airplay throughout Texas, especially the single "That's the Way".  Live at the Jolly Fox was released the following year and by this time the group had a sizable following with exposure on national outlets like Country Music Televsion.  However, bigger and better things were still in store for our boys!

"When It Rains" was the first EYB single to chart nationally.

In 2007, the Eli Young Band worked their way into the Austin City Limits Music Festival and began working on a new album.  Jet Black & Jealous came out in 2008 and launched the band into the national spotlight.  Peaking at #5 on the US Country Billboard Charts and #30 on the Top 100, the band found themselves nominated for all kinds of national level awards including "Top New Vocal Group or Duo" from the Academy of Country Music.  By this point, the fan base was so large that the guys sold out a 20,000 person stadium show in nine days without any backing from the record label.

"Crazy Girl" from the newest album is the first EYB Platinum single.

The latest album, Life at Best, was released last August and knocked away all of the band's previous records.  Shooting up to #3 on the US Country and and astounding #6 on the Top 100 Charts, the album included their first two #1 US Country hit songs: "Crazy Girl" and "Even If It Breaks Your Heart".  With all of their recent success, it's no question that the boys have a lot more music to give before everything is said and done.  Don't forget to check out their website here.
