Reckless Kelly is an Austin-based group founded by two Northwestern brothers: Willy and Cody Braun.

Reckless Kelly was named after the infamous Australian bank robber Ned Kelly.

After playing in their father's western swing band, Muzzie Braun & the Boys, the Braun brothers went independent and started touring as Reckless Kelly in Bend, Oregon.  It wasn't long before they relocated to Austin and worked their way onto Sixth Street with a crew behind them.  Comprised of Casey Pollock on lead guitar, Chris Schelske on bass guitar, Jay Nazz on drums, Cody on fiddle, and Willy on vocals, the band saw itself as an alternative country-rock act and released their first album Millican in the fall of 1997.  A live album and another studio album, the Day, would follow in 2000, but the band did not start charting nationally until the replacement of Pollock with David Abeyta on guitar with Under the Table and Above the Sun in 2003.  Peaking at #63 on the US Country Charts, the third album would be the one that caught the media's attention, including singer-songwriter Joe Ely.

Another album, Wicked Twisted Road, was produced in 2005 that reached #66.  The band moved over to a new label and their studio fifth album, Bulletproof, shot up to #22 on the US Country Charts as well as #117 on the Top 200.  The next album, Somewhere In Time, would be their love letter to honky-tonk music and had similar chartings.  The latest album was released under an independent label in the fall of 2011 - called Good Luck & True Love, it would be their best charting yet at #20 on the Country Charts and #78 on the Top 100.

Reckless Kelly's latest album was released last September.

Reckless Kelly is currently touring and has no plans of slowing down.  Their live concerts are truly fantastic and the legacy these guys leave behind will stay around for years to come.  You can make your way over and give their website a visit here.
